Youth Director

Moriah Congregation seeks an enthusiastic and passionate leader who is looking to create meaningful educational and social opportunities for teens and youth to enhance their Jewish identity and increase their engagement in synagogue life.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Engage teens at Moriah by developing and implementing programs, learning and volunteer opportunities.
  • Create and manage a teen leadership board, promote teen involvement in synagogue-wide programs and
  • rituals.
  • Serve as a resource to help Moriah teens connect with teen offerings in other Jewish organizations, and write
    referrals or nominations as needed. Coordinate opportunities for teens to share about their outside experiences
    with Moriah’s membership.
  • Build relationships with parents of teens. Establish regular communication channels and personal outreach to
    parents.
  • Work with Moriah’s education team on all youth events, with a focus on coordinating teen volunteer slots.
  • Coordinate ongoing youth offerings for Shabbat mornings and holidays, including training and scheduling teen
    leaders and overseeing the educational content and materials.
  • Work with Moriah’s USY representative, help recruit our youth to USY events, and stay tuned in to USY
    happenings.
  • Provide regular youth and teen updates to Moriah’s communication channels, including photos, stories and
    testimonials.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Education or Jewish Studies preferred)
  • Experience creating youth programs, working with children in Jewish settings such as summer camp or
    afterschool education.
  • Knowledge of Jewish values and teachings.
  • Excellent communication skills and relationship-building skills.
  • Digital ease with Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and social media platforms.

The Youth Director will report to Moriah’s Director of Education. This role requires evening and weekend availability, including Shabbat and Jewish holidays.

Hours: Approx. 10 hours per week
Salary: $16,000 annually
